Asalha Pudja 2008
Asalha
Puja is an annual ceremony to
pay homage to the Buddha on the full moon day of the 8th lunar month
(approximately July). It commemorates the Buddha's first teaching: the
turning of the wheel of the Dhamma (Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta) to the
five ascetics at the Deer Park (Sarnath) near Benares city, India. It
also commemorates the attainment of the first level of enlightenment
(Sotapanna) by one of the five ascetics, Kondanna. This year, we observed the day on July 20th, 2008. |
"Wake Up to your Life" Meditation group
The "Wake up to your
Life” (or WUTYL, pronounced woo til) group of Columbus,
Ohio is a small, nonsectarian Buddhist group that meets
weekly to
meditate
and to
study the Buddhist
teachings of Ken
McLeod.
Our
approach
is
practical. We seek to apply Buddhist tools to our daily lives
so that we may become increasingly open to the mystery of the present
moment. We view regular meditation practice as one key element to
becoming more
fully awake and alive. (source http://wutyl-columbus.org |
